What a kick ass date night

Do you guys hear that?....thats the sound of me typing again. wow i haven't posted in a while. Mostly because i've been busy, and i didn't want to. But now i am sitting in this geography class and she cant stop talking about convection and the suns rays and blah blah blah and i need a distraction.

Since my last post i've seen alot of movies. But i dont remember. I probably should have written them down or something. But the ones i do remember.....

KICK ASS

This movie was actually a big surprise. I went in thinking i was going to watch a stupid funny movie. And i was fully surprised when it turned out to be an action movie! It was literally a superhero movie. Who would have thunk it? Story of a boy who sees all these bullies in his area, and is bullied himself, so he decides to become a super hero without the need of help like spiderman or superman but more just from will like batman. But, as it turns out he is just some dorky kid with absolutely no powers and ends up getting his ass kicked. Kick ass ends up becoming famous through the wonder of technology and foolishly ends up messing with the wrong people, so he gets help from some real superheros (i guess you could say. actually let me rephrase, by very well prepared superheros) Big Daddy and Hit Girl. Hit Girl turned out to be a really good character and on of my favorites. I'm all about little girls who kill people and cusses worst than me, and thats saying something. Thats one thing that i  found shocking, super heros NEVER kill their enemies. They always just let them learn their lesson by hanging them over a building or something and then they turn them into the authorities. But not these guys!! They actually kill them. It was refreshing. Of course all superheros need a villain and this movie has several so im not going to spoil it by saying who. This movie had lots of funny parts but it also had lots of action scenes. One in particular i couldn't even watch. It was hard, but it made the movie that much better.  This movie was a pleasant surprise and i highly recommend it!

DATE NIGHT
(http://www.filmofilia.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Date-Night-Poster.jpg)

I'm sad to report that this movie was a let down. Tina Fey is one of my favorites when it comes to films (mean girls, baby mama etc.) and Micheal Sc--i mean Steve Carell never dissapoints. But it wasn't the jokes or their comedic timing, those were great! its the story in general....a couple get mistaken for some thieves and now have to out run the mob....really? not impressed. i think the only reason this movie worked in the slightest bit was BECAUSE of Tina Fey and Steve Carell. If they would have cast some one like cameron diaz or ashton kutcher (gag) this movie would have bombed. Oh...and it also helped that they had several shirtless scenes of the beautiful Mark Whalberg

Lets just take a moment to take this in.......ok back to the movie. I give it an over all ok. Not bad, but not great. Oh, and if you havent seen "Mark Wahlberg talks to animals" YOU HAVE TO SEE IT! Andy Samberg impersonates Mark Wahlberg perfectly. hilarious!

REVIEW: SHES OUT OF MY LEAGUE

I was irritated that my phone didn't work, cold, hungry and tired while i watched this movie....and i still enjoyed it. It was funny when it was supposed to be and sweet in the right spots. Story about a girl who genuinely falls for a dorkier, uglier [not in this reporters opinion ;) ], less put-together guy. They go out despite both of their friends thinking they're wrong for each other.

Of course, like all movies do, the moral is to be true to yourself and love people for who they are not what they look like *cue the "awwww"s* This movie had everything from stud muffins to ball shaving and early cumming. I give this a strong GOOD. Go watch this movie! In theaters this friday March 12.

"I'm a 10"................HAHAHAHA! i wish! but they gave out these cute buttons. and you can go to http://www.getyourrating.com/ and get rated yourself.

RECAP: 82nd Annual Academy Awards

Alright lets recap....

So my pick for the night was INGLORIOUS BASTERDS. and out of 8 nominations they only won 1!! LAME!!! i guess the academy wasn't feeling quentin this year.

totally sucks, but they won in BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR for christopher waltz. and he was great so he totally deserved it.

One thing that the academy DID GET RIGHT was AVATAR! i am so happy that they didn't win best picture. they were one that definitely shouldn't have and didn't. they won where they should have won, art direction, visual effects and cinematography. yes they had amazing effects, no it was not a good movie. the academy has spoken...

and, as predicted, UP won best ANIMATED FEATURE but it also won for music (original score), and beat out AVATAR and THE HURT LOCKER, so kudos to them :)

And Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman to win best director so that means i'm out >:[ hahahaha....i'll be there some day. She was the big winner of the night, so congrats i guess (should have been QUENTIN TARANTINO)

Speaking of him, i found this in a dollar book store in chula vista this weekend so thats pretty cool. A book about him and his works (circa '95) and the original screen play to pulp fiction.

And over the weekend i saw two movies.....SHUTTER ISLAND and THE CRAZIES.

SHUTTER ISLAND

Alright this movie stars LEONARDO DICAPRIO and is directed by the great MARTIN SCORSESE (director of such greats as The Departed and Goodfellas). Story about a cop who goes to a mental institution for criminals to investigate the disappearence of an inmate, oh sorry "patient". But as the story develops more things come to light and eventually you don't know whos sane whos insane and whos running the place. its one of those stories that leaves you at the end debating what really happened. i can't really talk about it and not give a lot away so just go watch it. i definitely recommend it. i give it a very strong GREAT.

THE CRAZIES

The Crazies is about a town that becomes infected with a disease that just makes you go crazy. Killing people type of crazy. If you're not a fan of ZOMBIELAND or DAWN OF THE DEAD or RESIDENT EVIL, then i dont recommend it.  But i like those movies so i enjoyed this one. Its basically the same thing, i've seen this plot time and time again. Nothing special but it was still good. I give it an overall OK.

82nd Annual Academy Awards

Ok so the oscars are this Sunday (March 7th at 8 pm on ABC). There are A LOT of nominees this year. The one i am really looking forward to is BEST PICTURE.
And the nominees are....

Best Picture
-Avatar
-The Blind Side
-District 9
-An Education
-The Hurt Locker
-INGLORIOUS BASTARDS
-Precious
-A Serious Man
-UP
-Up In the Air

Out of all of these, the obvious choice would be Avatar. It holds the number 1 movie spot, it cost 852652659126 dollars to make blah blah blah, point being, it still isn't that great of a movie. everyone made such a big deal about the effects, guess what? more movies are gonna have effects like that. the Oscars are to award outstanding movies. not just in one category but in all. and i just don't think avatar had such a great plot or climax, its all been seen before. So my pick for best picture???? INGLORIOUS BASTERDS

This movie had it all. great writing (Quentin Tarantino) direction, acting, plot, effects etc. etc. etc. it had all the key elements to an Oscar winner.
Now if you still haven't seen Inglorious Basterds i recommend you go out and get it NOW! You can watch the trailer at the end and see for yourself. Now lots of people aren't big war movie fans, but hey neither am i. and i LOVE this movie. It has more to it. Its an actual story, it just happens to take place during the war. it doesn't have those cheesy love plots either (ex. pearl harbor).

Although i must admit that i would like to see UP win too. that movie also had all those elements. but an animated movie has never won best picture. Only beauty and the beast and UP have had the honor of even being nominated. So UP's chances aren't looking that great.

Inglorious Basterds is also nominated in the catetgories of...... Actor in a supporting role (Christopher Waltz), Cinematography, Directing (Quentin Tarantino), Film editing, Sound editing, Sound mixing, and Writing (original screenplay). I think Basterds should win in each category.

Although (again) i would have no objection if UP won in writing (original screenplay), Sound editing, and Music . But i fully expect UP to win in Animated Feature.

You can check out the full list of nominees in all categories here

Who do you want to win best picture? Answer the poll on the left hand side.
